A little inspiration please! :)

It's my birthday on Sunday, and although I'm not too happy about turning 26, I am very much looking forward to baking my Birthday Cake! The only problem is... I don't know what to bake... :( I'm not really a big chocolate fan, I'd prefer coffee to vanilla, and I love fresh fruit desserts like pavlova but I want to make a cake so that I can pipe pretty icing swirls and rosettes!
I need some help, I need a little inspiration, so any suggestions would be welcome! :)
I'll still be baking for the market on Saturday, but then I am taking Monday off work so that I still get a full birthday weekend with my family. No major party plans this year, just heading to a concert with my Mum on Sunday night. We're going to see The Swell Season, aka Glen Hansard and Marketa Iriglova of Oscar winning fame, I can't wait!

  1. Happy Birthday! You're still very much in your twenties, so I say, enjoy!

or you can make a big cake from this blueberry maple cupcake recipe and swirl frosting to your heart's content.

  2. Hey, I'll be 26 in just a couple weeks, and I'm excited about it! But then, I love birthdays! I'd recommend this recipe for strawberry champagne cupcakes. I love love love them. I've frosted them with vanilla buttercream, spiked with champagne, and they are QUITE tasty!

  3. Oh those suggestions sound fabulous! My sister had a bottle of pink champagne and everything, but I couldn't convince her to crack it open!! haha! :) Will need to buy my own I guess!

And the carrot cake suggestion is pretty spot on, I've asked my friend Stew to make one for my party next Saturday night. It's an End of Summer, End of Market, Birthday & Moving to Cork party! Can't wait! Big changes ahead! :D
